YouTube is dead.

Well... not actually.

But sometimes you open the site and wonder what the fuck happened.

YouTube used to feel like people making shit because they wanted to.

Now everything feels like content.

And there's a difference.

I actually like AI.

There, I said it.

AI is a tool. That's it.

A camera is a tool. Photoshop is a tool. Editing software is a tool.

Nobody looks at Photoshop and goes, "Holy shit, the computer made the thumbnail."

Because there's still a person behind it.

That's the part I think YouTube is starting to lose.

The human element.

AI can help you make a video.

Cool.

AI can help write something.

Cool.

AI can help with music, images, editing, whatever.

Also cool.

But if the entire video is just AI talking to AI while AI watches an AI-generated thumbnail...

What the fuck am I watching?

I don't want perfect.

I want personality.

I want someone to have an opinion that isn't perfectly optimized for the algorithm.

I want someone to make a stupid joke because they thought it was funny.

I want someone to make a video that probably shouldn't work.

That's what made YouTube feel like YouTube.

Because now you can tell when something was made for the algorithm.

The title.

The thumbnail.

The pacing.

The fake reaction.

The "YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED."

Bro, I already don't believe you.

And then there's the reaction videos.

Guy watches trailer.

"Ohhhhh."

Pause.

"Okay."

Plays five seconds.

"That's actually really interesting."

Pause.

Video ends.

Somehow this is 18 minutes.

Cinema.

The weird thing is, YouTube still has amazing creators.

That's not the problem.

The problem is that finding them feels harder.

You can spend three days making something you're actually proud of, and YouTube goes:

"Cool."

37 views.

Meanwhile, some dude uploads a 12-second clip of himself screaming and gets 4 million.

Good for him, honestly.

I don't think YouTube needs less technology.

I think it needs more people.

Use AI.

Use cameras.

Use editing software.

Use whatever the hell you want.

Just give me you.

Because if I can remove the person from the content and replace them with a button...

Well... maybe not dead.

But they're getting expensive as fuck.

The whole appeal was simple.

Get a bunch of movie nerds together.

Talk about movies.

Argue about bullshit.

Someone says something stupid.

Someone else gets pissed off.

Content.

Beautiful.

Then StreamYard decided apparently we weren't suffering enough.

Prices go up.

Then another streaming service raises its price.

Then another one wants a subscription.

And suddenly you're paying every month just to put six people on a screen talking about Superman.

Brilliant business model.

And that's the problem.

Movie talk panels were already a niche.

Now you're asking creators to pay monthly just to make the niche content.

And unless you're making enough money from it, why the hell would you?

YouTube isn't exactly handing out cheques for existing.

You can technically do it without paying.

Sure.

There's always some workaround.

But now you're spending more time figuring out how to get everyone onto the fucking screen than actually talking about movies.

That's not exactly helping.

And the funny thing is...

The audience doesn't care what software you used.

They just see six little boxes.

"Hey guys, welcome back to another movie panel."

Someone's microphone doesn't work.

Someone's internet dies.

Someone forgot they're muted.

"Can you hear me?"

Classic.

I think the format is going to have to change.

Not because people stopped caring about movies.

Because creators can't keep paying subscription fees for every fucking tool they need.

YouTube itself is free.

Editing software costs money.

Streaming software costs money.

Music costs money.

Thumbnails take time.

And somehow we're supposed to do all of this for 43 views.

Awesome.

Movie talk isn't dead.

The traditional panel format might be.

And honestly?

Maybe that's not the worst thing.

Maybe one person talking about movies with an actual personality is better than six webcams fighting for screen space.

Less panel.

More personality.

Probably cheaper too.

Which is nice.

Because apparently talking about movies now requires a fucking cable bill.

Well, it finally happened.

After what feels like Dexter Morgan himself taking his sweet time disposing of a body, we finally have an official premiere date for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2.

And no, this isn't another rumor. Paramount+ has actually told us when we're getting it.

It's been 368 days since Season 1 ended and 148 days since Season 2 started filming in New York, so naturally, fans have been waiting patiently. Or at least pretending to.

Following the teaser announcement on September 7, Paramount+ was clearly getting ready to reveal the big news. What they apparently didn't count on was a billboard in Times Square basically spoiling the surprise before they could do it themselves.

The billboard was filmed by a passerby and posted online, giving fans an early look at the announcement.

Because apparently Times Square is now the place where streaming services announce television shows.

The billboard features Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan getting an eye exam, because apparently even serial killers need to make sure they can see properly.

Then Dexter puts on a pair of glasses.

And there it is.

October 30, 2026.

That's the official premiere date for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2.

So yes, the wait is almost over.

And honestly, October is probably the perfect month for this. Not only are we getting a new season of Dexter, but October also marks the 20th anniversary of the Dexter franchise.

Twenty years.

That's a little terrifying when you think about it.

The show has somehow been around long enough for an entire generation to grow up watching a fictional serial killer have more successful career opportunities than most real people.

But now we're getting new episodes right around Halloween, which feels pretty appropriate for Dexter.

So there we go.

One of the biggest questions Dexter fans have been asking for months has finally been answered.

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 premieres October 30, 2026.

Just in time for Halloween.

And after all this waiting, Dexter is finally coming back.

Hopefully he remembered his glasses.

Well, Asa Germann didn't get to play Cyclops.

Apparently Marvel had another idea.

According to a new report, the Gen V actor is now being considered for Warren Worthington III, better known as Angel, in Marvel Studios' upcoming X-Men movie.

So basically, he went in for Cyclops and Marvel said, "How about wings?"

Fair enough.

Germann previously auditioned for Cyclops, but that role eventually went to Kit Connor. Now he's reportedly in the running for Angel instead.

And honestly, this might actually be a better fit.

Angel is one of the original X-Men from the comics. Warren Worthington III is a wealthy young mutant who happens to have giant wings because apparently being rich wasn't enough of an advantage.

His main power is flying, although his comic book history eventually gets considerably darker.

Because this is X-Men, so obviously he can't just have a nice life.

Angel eventually becomes Archangel, gaining metallic wings and going through one of the more messed-up transformations in X-Men history.

So if Marvel is planning to keep Angel around for multiple movies, Germann could potentially have a pretty interesting character to work with.

We've already seen Angel on the big screen twice. Ben Foster played him in X-Men: The Last Stand, while Ben Hardy played a younger version in X-Men: Apocalypse. Both versions existed, but neither exactly got the massive character arc fans have been waiting for.

Maybe the third time is the charm.

Germann is probably best known for playing Sam Riordan in Gen V, where he got to play a character who was already dealing with the whole "extremely powerful person with serious problems" thing.

So at least Marvel isn't starting from zero here.

The new X-Men movie is already starting to come together, with Kit Connor as Cyclops and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, while Jake Schreier is directing and Kevin Feige is producing.

For now, though, there's one important thing to remember:

Marvel has not officially announced Asa Germann as Angel.

It's still a report.

But if this turns out to be true, we might finally be getting an Angel who actually gets something to do.

And maybe, eventually, he'll get those metal wings.

Because apparently regular wings weren't depressing enough.

Even though Marvel Studios is currently focused on Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, the studio is already laying the groundwork for what comes after. One of the bigger movies currently planned for 2028 is Ghost Rider, and apparently Ryan Gosling had quite a bit to do with getting the project started.

According to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, Gosling wasn’t just interested in playing Ghost Rider. He was apparently the person who came up with the vision for the movie and pitched the idea that eventually got Shawn Levy and Marvel Studios interested.

Speaking to Empire Magazine, Feige explained that “it was Gosling who had the vision” and that his pitch was what convinced Levy to get involved and eventually bring the idea to Marvel.

So apparently Ryan Gosling just walked into Marvel with a Ghost Rider idea and everyone went, “Yeah, this guy might be onto something.”

Which, honestly, makes me even more curious about what exactly this idea is.

Obviously, we’re not going to accuse Kevin Feige of hyping up an upcoming Marvel movie. That would be completely unreasonable and probably illegal under Disney law.

But if Gosling had a pitch good enough to get Shawn Levy and Marvel Studios on board, I really want to know what he actually pitched.

Hopefully, it involves leaning heavily into the horror side of Ghost Rider. The character is a flaming skeleton possessed by a demonic spirit who rides around on a motorcycle. Marvel doesn't exactly have to dig very deep to find the horror here.

Of course, we probably won’t know exactly what Gosling and Levy have planned until Ghost Rider gets closer to its 2028 release.

And Ghost Rider isn't the only future Marvel movie that was announced at SDCC this year. Black Panther 3 was also revealed, with T’Challa’s son taking on the mantle of Black Panther.

But before we get to any of that, Marvel still has to deal with the small problem of Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars potentially blowing up half the universe first.
